Guruvayur Temple

The Sree Krishna Temple, Guruvayur is one of the most famous Krishna temples in India and devotees from all over India and abroad visit the temple for prayers and various ritual offerings. The temple is managed by Guruvayur Devaswam Board, an autonomous body.

Guruvayur Devaswom Institute of Mural Painting

Institute of Mural Painting is an institute established by Guruvayur Devaswom Board in 1989 to give training in mural painting, especially in the Kerala style of mural painting, in the traditional Gurukula system. Guruvayur Devaswom Board is the statutory body which governs and manages a group pf 12 temples including the Sri Krishna Temple at Guruvayur. This is the only institute of its kind in India.[1] The institute offers a five-year National Diploma Course in mural painting. The trainees get instructions in Fine Arts for the first two years and specialized training in Kerala mural painting in the remaining three years.

Punnathur Kotta
(Anakkotta)

Punnathur Kotta was once the palace of the local ruler, The palace grounds are now used th house elephants (38) belonging to Sree Krishna Temple and is now known as Anakotta (Fort of elephants). The elephants are mostly ritual offering made by the devotees to the temple. This place is a tourist attraction to see the bathing and feeding of elephants. The elephants are used for many temple rituals and ceremonial occasions.

Mammiyur Sri Mahadeva Temple

Mammiyur Mahadeva Temple is a popular Shiva temple situated in Guruvayoor, Thrissur district[1] of Kerala, India.[2] Every devotee who goes to Guruvayur Temple is supposed to go to Mammiyoor also, as the ritual goes. Only Hindus are allowed inside the temple premises. The temple is a part of the 108 famous Shiva temples[3] in Kerala and one among the five Shiva temples around Guruvayoor. The main deity is Lord Shiva, who is installed in the concept of ‘Uma Maheshwara’ – His form with Goddess Parvathi on his left. There is a shrine for Lord Vishnu also here. The sub-deities are Lord Ganapathi, Lord Subrahmanya, Lord Ayyappan, Goddess Kali and Serpent deities.

Parthasarathy Temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna, who is worshipped here in the form of Parthasarathy, the charioteer of Arjuna in the epic Mahabharata.

Palayur Church

Palayur Mar Thoma Major Archiepiscopal Church, is located at Palayur (historically known as Palur), in Thrissur district in Kerala on the west coast of India.[1] According to Saint Thomas Christian tradition, the Syrian church was established in 52 AD by St Thomas, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ.[2] Saint Thomas performed the first baptism in India here, therefore this church is called an Apostolic Church credited to the apostolate of St. Thomas, who preached and also introduced Christianity to the people here.
